On April 6, 2021, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the general meeting of the Alumni Association of Materials Science of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the first meeting of the second council will be held in the first conference room of Zhongying Building on Xingqing Campus.

     Lu Jianjun, Party Secretary of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Wang Shuguo, President of Xi 'an Jiaotong University and Xi Guang, Vice President of Xi 'an Jiaotong University attended the symposium.Li Helin, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yao Yinliang, director of Shaanxi Provincial Decision Advisory Committee, Xu Kewei, director of Xi 'an Decision Advisory Committee, Xu Qiang, director of Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, LAN Xinzhe, deputy Secretary of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of Science and Technology, Zhang Yue-e, chairman of the board of Directors of Pu Huashun Group, Du Guangyi, executive director and Party Secretary of Petroleum Engineering And Construction Company, and more than 30 outstanding alumni representatives of materials discipline, Pan Xide, Party Secretary of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shan Zhiwei, President of School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Sun Jun, director of State Key Laboratory of Metal Material Strength attended the meeting. The conference was hosted by Li Jian, executive president of the Alumni Association of Materials Science, and Zhao Xihu, secretary-general of the Association.

     At the symposium, Lu jianjun expressed his gratitude to the large number of alumni for their long-term help and support for the construction and development of the university. He pointed out that the alumni are the solid foundation for the steady development of the university and the participants and promoters of the university's construction. He hoped that the university could contribute more wisdom to the western Development and the Belt and Road construction with the strong development momentum under the care of the alumni. 

     Wang Shuguo pointed out that in the face of the new era, new tasks and new requirements, Jiaotong University urgently needs the enthusiastic care and support of its alumni. He hopeed that the Materials Science Alumni Association can better serve alumni, unite alumni, care about the alma mater, and help Jiaotong University to produce greater results and make greater contributions to the comprehensive promotion of the construction of the college and the school in all aspects.

     At the transition meeting, Sun Jianke, president of the Alumni Association of Material Science, delivered a work report on behalf of the first council of the alumni Association. Since its establishment, the first Council has been adhering to the purpose of the alumni Association, and has carried out a series of effective work in enhancing alumni friendship and cooperation, assisting Alma Mater in talent cultivation, scientific research, cultural exchange, and serving the society. A comprehensive review and summary of alumni contact platform, improvement of the alumni association organization structure, participation in various activities, subject spirit inheritance, sensors and actuators, power college, school career development and for the first session of the council work was conducted by the report. It also suggested that the alumni should continuously improve their goals in the future work, earnestly fulfill their duties, adhere to the central work of the school, and make unremitting efforts to open up a new situation for the development of the alumni Association of materials discipline.

Then, Li Jian, executive president of The Alumni Association of Materials Science, presided over the transition meeting of the council. The meeting deliberated and approved the candidates for the second session of the board of Directors, among which Wang Wenbin, the 1987 metallographic alumnus and chairman of Shaanxi Sirui New Materials Co., LTD., was elected as the president. Li Helin, Yao Yinliang, Xu Kewei, Xu Qiang, Lan Xinzhe and other alumni presented letters of appointment and wore the emblem to the new board members respectively.

Wang Wenbin, the new president of the Materials Science Alumni Association, delivered a speech, he said that the new council will uphold the fine tradition and solid foundation of the first council, further contact alumni, build a normalized mechanism for alumni returning to school, promote multi-party integration and communication and collaboration, and focus on the pain points and difficulties in the development of materials disciplines, explore new models of scientific research, industrialization investment and discipline strategy. At the same time, it gathers funds, resources and services to meet the needs of individualized activities of alumni in different fields, vigorously support the work of the college and the school, and share weal and woe with the alma mater, and seek for common development.

     Then, the dean of The School of Materials, Shan Zhiwei, gave a speech. He first expressed his sincere gratitude to the alumni Association of materials discipline for its contribution, stressing that the alumni Association is a platform for resource sharing and win-win cooperation. He hoped that the majority of alumni could continue to pay attention to and support the development of materials discipline, scientific research, personnel training, innovation and entrepreneurship in line with the country's major strategic needs and core directions, provide inexhaustible motivation and intellectual support for discipline innovation.

     At the end of the meeting, a number of alumni had a lively discussion on the organization of the alumni association, innovation and development, and talent training.

Yao emphasized that the work of the alumni Association should serve the country and the needs of society, with the important mission of cultivating talents with the responsibility of the country. Xu qiang said that the new era should implement the new development concept, build a new development pattern, seize the opportunity, vigorously explore innovative talent training mode, and help the material discipline to a new level. Du Guangyi suggested that students should learn multi-disciplinary knowledge such as management to improve their own quality and knowledge level in an all-round way while laying a solid foundation in disciplines. Zhang Zhefeng, deputy director of the Institute of Metal Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, expressed his deep appreciation for his Alma mater by reviewing his own experience. Xu Xiaohong, vice president of Shanxi Normal University, pointed out that alumni should grow and progress together on the platform of the alumni Association and unite to provide strong support for the development of the college and the university. Li helin encouraged the students and alumni of the school of Materials to make joint efforts to help the development of the school and the discipline to win new glory.

The Materials Alumni Association of Xi 'an Jiaotong University was founded on April 9, 2017, with the purpose of friendship, mutual assistance, gathering wisdom and development. Under the leadership of the first Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association, it has established a regular contact mechanism with 652 alumni and set up a platform for communication, exchange, mutual assistance. It helps the development of the college and disciplines in scientific research, talent training, innovation and entrepreneurship. Such as the establishment of xi 'an Jiaotong University Siyuan Inclusive Education Development Fund youth Leadership Fund affinity Fund direct grants, implement the Yuejie Innovative talent training plan,prepare for the Siyuan Square Direct casting museum and public library. At the same time, comprehensive strategic cooperation will be carried out, including building research centers and joint laboratories, establishing horizontal scientific research cooperation, and supporting the transformation and implementation of scientific research achievements.
